Yesterday, my mom had to go to the hospital for her bi-monthly eye treatment (for macular degeneration). She can easily go there on her own, but it's the way back that's the problem. So this time I went along to help her when her vision is too blurred to see. It was lucky I was there though. Her bus card that is completely new (she's only used to a few times) suddenly stopped working. It's possible to use one card for two people, but again, fortunately, she didn't have to pay. The bus driver said that there was still quite a bit of money on her card so he didn't think she needed to pay any other way. We also managed to do some shopping for groceries and some baby clothes.
On the way back, while we were waiting on the railway station, there was a drunk who had a bit of trouble with a gang of high school kids. They got on each other's nerves. He was filled with respect for my mom. "You older people who built our country." He walked over to shake my mom's hand to show his respect. It was actually kind of sweet. She tried to tell him she wasn't part of that group, but I think she was. Teaching children with learning disabilities is just as important as actually building the country - whether he meant working class people or something else.
I seem to be getting back on my feet after the surgery and the long pregnancy (but it's funny how short it seems now, in retrospect). Maybe this is too much info, but my baby bump is still there. I look like I'm maybe four months pregnant. It's so embarrassing. Mom suggests situps but I think I'll need to wait another month before my uterus agrees to more vigorous movement.
